Estimate Sales Tax - Apply Rates

After you've built your rate table and excluded selected transactions from sales tax estimation by marking them "tax exempt", you're ready to apply the tax rates to your transactions.

To estimate sales tax for those transactions that do not already have sales tax from the point of sale or are exempted from sales tax estimation, select Apply Rates from the View drop down box. The Transaction Sales Tax - Apply Rates View appears.

Enter a date range for the transactions that you want to estimate sales tax in the From Date and To Date boxes respectively. Remember, the date range you enter cannot exceed 31 days.

Click Apply Sales Tax to apply the sales tax rates from the rate table.

The view then displays a table with the total number of transactions with estimated sales tax, the total number of transactions excluded from sales tax estimation, and the total number of transactions evaluated.

The Tax Flag in the Sales Tax Estimation - Transaction view indicates how the sales tax was determined. If the transaction was exempted from sales tax estimation, the Exempt box to the right of the transaction is checked.
